March 8th 2008 - Scout CPR Saturday

a Scout CPR Saturday - March 8th 2008

"Be Prepared" is more than just the Boy Scout Motto

With over 750 participants registered - the Atlanta Area Council Boy and Girl Scouts are getting ready to participate in and volunteer to help run Scout CPR Saturday in coordination with the American Red Cross on March 8th 2008. In a program that will involve participation in two different ways " one as facilitators and one as participants - plans are underway to train the Atlanta Area Council Scouts and Adult leadership in First Aid skills that can save a life and at the same time support the program by serving as volunteers running the event. The American Red Cross offers a remarkable opportunity to learn CPR" Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation in the Spring of every year. American Red Cross adult CPR training complements a variety of learning styles and provides hands-on practice and real-life scenarios.

Boy Scouts routinely invest their time and effort to "Be Prepared" for emergencies. First Aid training is required for rank advancement and is an essential life skill offered to each scout. Our boys are camping in the woods every month – experiencing the wonder of nature and learning how to plan for and to react to emergencies and injuries that may occur – anywhere.

The Atlanta Area Council project coordinator Rich Hallberg has been instrumental in the Atlanta Area Council’s First Aid training program. He has dedicated hundreds of hours planning this project and others which include a remarkable Wilderness First Aid class. Mr. Hallberg reflects "Be Prepared is not just two words - it requires training, planning, practice and repetition. High Adventure programs depend on it and the Atlanta Area Council is dedicated in providing the training to our youth and adult leadership to insure an exciting and meaningful scouting experience. The American Red Cross has a wonderful program for our scouts. We are proud to work in coordination with such a strong program".

CPR Saturday is open to the community and Atlanta Area Council Boy Scouts are encouraging Metro Atlanta's to "Be Prepared" and learn skills to save a life.
