Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area

Paces Mill at Hwy 41 and the Chattahoochee River

It is that time of year when we kick off the 2011 Boy Scout Good Turn for America project. We’ll be again working with the National Park Service for the 6th year in the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area to continue our attack on the alien invaders, primarily the privet shrub that invades so much of the park. As always, your unit’s participation is vital to this project and to the health of our national park.

Each year the National Park Service is amazed with how much of the privet is cleared by “boy power.” Spend some time with your unit explaining the benefits of this project and the need to volunteer to help eliminate this invasive shrub so all people in our community can enjoy our park and the good time we have working with other Scouts.

Be aware that any time your unit spends working on Saturday, March 5th, will be counted toward your Green Scouting Award.

If you have questions about this project, please let me know.

Please note: There is a $0.00 per person cost for this event.
